AIHF FOUNDERS

The following Native American Indians founded the American Indian Humanitarian Foundation in 2004

The American Indian Humanitarian Foundation was established with the ideals of Indians-helping-Indians. Our history had always been adversarial and costly in every way with the dominant culture, therefore in order for future generations to prosper we knew that helping each other was the only trusted way.

It was understood that the American Indian Movement (AIM) had achieved numerous goals in forcing the U.S. government to allow Native Indians freedom to practice their own spiritual religious and traditional cultural ways, including achieving civil & equal rights that the government had previously denied. Of course AIM's success was not without much suffering including loss of Indian lives. Understand, our fight is still not over for self-determination.

Since AIM's struggle brought about some needed changes it was decided that now was the time to focus on our future as Native American Indians by relying on our Traditional values and principles without government interference, nor political activism. With that the former AIM leaders agreed to establish the American Indian Humanitarian Foundation, a national non-profit 501(c)(3) charitable organization.

We realize that Dependency destroys a person's dignity and self-initiative. We believe that true charity must emphasize self-help in order to restore pride and independence.

Our Success is only as Good as our Team of Volunteers

We are a grassroots volunteer charity. we strive for 100% of all donations to reach those in need. Our Board, Staff and Volunteers have agreed to accept no salaries for our work with this corporation. Our efforts are to ensure the continual movement of donations and supplies to our fellow Native Americans who are truly in need. Our motive is the sincere desire to serve from the heart, as our ancestors did.

Some of these dedicated volunteers have decades of experience in humanitarian programs, working unselfishly while receiving payments of warm smiles, thank you hugs and heart felt love.

There is no greater satisfaction of the heart then to see the smile on a child’s face when handing them a toy or an elder’s smile upon receiving a warm blanket. There is no greater joy then to serve those who can not serve themselves.
